Will Silence backfire for Salaar ?
Salaar will be released in theatres globally in 11 days, with the team's only promotional material consisting of a series of posters and a trailer. There is also little buzz about the pre-release event. If the team had planned an event, they should have requested for authorization from the police department and began planning right away. However, the hyderabad police department has found no sign of it. The same is true in Bengaluru and Chennai.
Prabhas' name worth may provide opportunities, but it is the substance that will bring in the big bucks. Promotion is essential for the material to reach a wider audience. We witnessed this in the case of Animal, where the trailer stirred conversations about alpha masculinity and generated a lot of buzz even before the film was released.
Salaar's trailer began with a mention to kgf shades. Then there was talk that the crew was working on another trailer. However, this second trailer has also taken a back seat because the team has yet to make a statement about it. Nobody knows when or 'if' it will be published.
Salaar's staff hasn't even sat down for an interview with media outlets, let alone swashbuckling events and tours. To put it in context, RRR, Rajamouli, NTR, and ram charan were travelling India, giving 6-7 interviews each day and having events in Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
Another setback for Salaar is that it clashes with SRK's Dunki. While Dunki may not have a lot of buzz, underestimating SRK and the great raj Kumar Hirani might be disastrous. But the Salaar creators aren't having any of it, keeping a stony quiet with only 10 days till the big reveal, maybe because they are convinced that the material will speak for itself. Will the quiet be detrimental? Will the picture have enough material to compensate for the poor advertising and still sell out at the box office?
