Anirudh Struggles to Recreate Rahman’s Magic?

SIBY JEYYA
Anirudh Ravichander's phenomenal ascension as a music composer, who has constantly produced chart-topping songs over the past 10 years, inexorably inspires comparisons to another kollywood great, AR Rahman. The young musical director's year has been filled with victory as his films Jawan, Leo, and Jailer have all been huge hits, thanks in large part to his energetic BGM.
Expectations were high for "Indian 2," as Anirudh teamed up with unconventional filmmaker Shankar. especially because rahman wrote the soundtrack for the original film 27 years prior. Thus, the parallels were unavoidable. But many fans are now saying that Anirudh can't live up to Rahman's history after seeing the "Indian 2" entrance trailer.
Rahman composed an enduring soundtrack for "Indian" 27 years ago. The soundtrack for the movie is among the most recognizable in tamil cinema history. Not only was the BGM amazing, but the songs themselves were timeless masterpieces that are still well-loved today. The music that was included in the indian 2 trailer fell short of expectations and failed to make the necessary impression.
Perhaps Anirudh will create a memorable BGM for the movie, but Shankar's films also heavily rely on their songs, and in the first half, comparisons to Rahman's legendary work will be made. Even if Anirudh is without a doubt the greatest actor working today, it would be difficult for him to replicate Rahman's indian enchantment.
