Writer Prayag Raj, who was a part of amitabh Bachchan's superhit films like 'Amar Akbar Anthony', 'Naseeb' and 'Kuli', has passed away at the age of 88. Prayag raj was treating age-related diseases. His son Aditya said, "Prayag raj passed away at his home in Bandra at 4 pm on Saturday. He had been suffering from heart and age-related ailments for eight to ten years." raj wrote the stories of Bachchan's 'Naseeb', 'Suhaag' and 'Kuli' and 'Mard' films, and as a writer he wrote screenplays for more than 100 films. He has written some movie songs as a songwriter.


Prayag raj supported Rajesh Khanna's 'Roti', Dharmendra-Jitendra's 'Dharm Veer' and 'Amar Akbar Anthony' in writing the screenplays. He also wrote the amitabh bachchan and Rajinikanth and kamal haasan starrer 'Girftaar'. His last film as a writer was 'Jamanat' directed by late S Ramanathan. Raj's last rites were performed at shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar here on sunday morning. It was attended by many celebrities from the family and film industry. amitabh bachchan has paid tribute to the writer on his blog. He wrote, "Last evening we lost one more pillar of our great film industry." Anil Kapoor, who worked in 'Hifaazat' written by Raj, paid tribute and said that he is saddened by the demise of the industry legend. Along with a picture with raj from the sets of the film, he wrote on X, "I am saddened by the passing away of Prayag raj ke. It was my fortune to work with him in 'Hifajat'. May god rest his soul."
