Stop the Criticism Against Our Music Directors Now

S Venkateshwari
There has been an upsetting tendency among certain telugu cinema aficionados in recent months, where they have been harshly criticising eminent telugu music composers like ss thaman and Devi Sri Prasad. While some of the expectations may have been partially exceeded by their previous efforts, the excessive trolling had unforeseen repercussions. We frequently acclaim composers who write in other languages without expressing the same amount of admiration for our own abilities.
Two prominent composers have eloquently displayed their talent by winning the "Best music Direction" prizes at the prestigious 69th National prizes, a suitable reaction to such unjustified criticism. The accolades for Devi Sri Prasad's work on the "songs" of "Pushpa: The Rise" and MM Keeravani's background score for "RRR" not only confirm their musical genius but also show how their creations have reverberated across the whole country. It's important to note that DSP also wrote the music for "Uppena," which also happened to be the "Best Regional Film (Telugu)" winner.
In light of this, it's imperative that we recognise the negative effects of disparaging the work of our local composers while giving undue praise to those from other countries. It's crucial to provide these talented composers the chance to grow and showcase their artistic talent. We should offer our support and tolerance in allowing them to continue using each new project as a platform to demonstrate their talents.
