Technology adoption is never simple. Before adopting new technology, there are a lot of advantages and disadvantages to take into account. For the time being, it appears that businesses like samsung and lg are thinking about persuading hollywood to replace the antiquated projection format with enormous LED panels. In other words, rather than projection halls, which have been since the beginning of cinema, there will be enormous LED tv displays.
In reality, Pixar did play with the notion by showing Lightyear in 2022 to paying customers on one of these screens at Houston's Star cinema Grill. hollywood is open to new technologies, but there are some reservations about how the sound, an important aspect of the movie-watching experience, would be handled. LED screens make it impossible to place the speakers directly behind the screen, as they do in conventional theatres. The major problem, though, is with the costs and how theatre owners will deal with them.
Compared to projection systems, LED screens take more electricity and produce more heat, therefore more air conditioning is needed. Additionally, they need a metal rigging framework that isn't typically there to support the weight of the vibrating screen. And for theatre owners, all of this means significant costs. LED is still a choice that is "under consideration" for the time being.
