Director Mani Ratnam's wife and famous actress suhasini has opened up about the oppression that shocked her. suhasini was a leading heroine in tamil cinema in the 1980s. Suhasini, who has worked with many leading actors including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, fell in love with and married director mani ratnam in 1988.
The couple also has a son named Nandan. She directed the movie Indira which was released in 1995. Suhasini, who is still playing character roles in films, while speaking at a show, narrated a conversation she had with a cook at her house. In which she said that after she got married to mani ratnam, they were living in a joint family. Later Manirathnam's brother went alone, so she lived there with her husband and son.
They have an elderly mother who cooks in their house. She and suhasini will cook together at home. One day, when mani ratnam was not at home, she asked her mother if they could cook something tasty together. She said she didn't want all that.
She immediately told Suhashini to eat curd rice and sleep. She asked why, to which she asked Maniratnam is not in town, then why should she cook. suhasini asked if should they not eat. To Which she crushed all her desire in one minute by saying that they can cook all that when all are there, curd rice is enough for ladies. suhasini opened up about the oppression she data-faced, and she was shocked to hear her speak in the tone of saying why ladies need tasty foods.
