No one would anticipate originality or a profound message from Maruthi's "Pakka Commercial" because the title makes it clear what is being served. Additionally, the film's two pre-release trailers conveyed the impression that it is a typical commercial movie with comedic elements. However, even those who went to the movies like we did well-prepared by the trailers will be let down by this film for two reasons: a mediocre commercial appeal and a shoddy writing
The film had been in development for a while, and filming had already started before the first lockdown was implemented. If we watch the movie, we will notice that several scenes were shot or reshot as the filming went on, and they appear patchy. The comic scenes lack a smooth transition. In order to provide humour, Raashi Khanna's character, who is an expansion of her role from Maruthi's earlier film "Prati Roju Pandage," appears right away.
Her humorous song makes us think of the work that Sreenu Vaitla produced in his peak. But today, these songs are no longer relevant. It makes sense why her song hasn't made people laugh. Maruthi asks god to grant his dream to succeed at the start of the movie. We witness a similar exchange from Gopichand during the intermission. In the concluding scenes, Rao Ramesh's character discusses several websites and requests quality writing from the reviewers. It appears like Maruthi deliberately tried to pass this exam rather than compellingly telling his experience. This "planned" approach is evident throughout the entire film. There are some fascinating passages and some hilarious ones. But are they sufficient?
