Why Jessica Alba Nearly Quit Acting After Fantastic Four?

Following Fantastic Four: Rise Of The silver Surfer, Jessica Alba considered quitting acting. mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and The Thing are the members of the Fantastic Four superhero team. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby co-created the comic, but despite their decades of success, Marvel's "First Family" has had a dismal luck with adaptations. The Fantastic Four made their first appearance in the 1994 film Fantastic Four, which was infamously never released. The film was made on a shoestring budget by the producer in order to keep the property's rights, with Marvel later purchasing and shelving the film so that its perceived lack of quality wouldn't contaminate the box-office potential of future Fantastic Four films.
The Fantastic Four movies from the late 2000s are the foursome's most successful outings, at least in terms of box office. Outside of energetic performances by future Captain America star chris Evans as johnny Storm and Michael Chiklis as The Thing, this duology of superhero films already looks like relics in the post-MCU world. The team's most recent big-screen adventure was josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot, a blockbuster that suffered from an infamously botched production, resulting in a bland, self-aware film that few loved.
Jessica Alba had a busy decade in the 2000s, with roles in films including Sin City and Dark Angel. Sue Storm is a member of the Fantastic Four who, like the rest of her team, is granted superhuman abilities after being struck by cosmic energy clouds in space. While Alba is capable of tremendous performances, she comes across as weirdly wooden in 2005's Fantastic Four, despite the screenplay's best efforts. During the production of a certain Fantastic Four: Rise Of The silver Surfer scene, Jessica Alba considered quitting acting entirely. This happened during an emotional scene for her character Sue Storm, during which director Tim Story gave her some extremely unhelpful advice on how to execute the scenario.
