Notice to music companies in ilayaraja case..?
The indian Record Production Company had filed a petition in the chennai High court seeking a ban on ilayaraja from using the music of 30 films. The indian Record Production Company had filed a petition in the chennai High court seeking an injunction restraining ilayaraja from using the music of these films as he had obtained copyright from the producers for 20 tamil films and 10 other films released in other languages which are composed by Ilayaraja.
The chennai High court, which heard the petition, banned ilayaraja and two music companies from using music for the above 30 films. Composer ilayaraja appealed against the order in the chennai High Court.
Attorneys Thiagarajan and Saravanan appeared for Ilayaraja. The case came up for hearing before a two-judge bench comprising Justices Tamilchelvi and Thuraisamy. Three music companies, including the indian Record Production Company, were then ordered to respond to the petition within two weeks and adjourned the case.
Already there was an issue with ilayaraja and the late S.P.B regarding the copyright issues. This has also created a rift between them. Even Ilayaraja's Brother gangai amaran came in support of the legendary singer S.P.B. at that time.
