Until recently, the authority in
indian films was well-defined.
bollywood was the older brother, with movies from different states grouped together as "provincial cinema." It was thought that they would never be able to compete with
bollywood films in terms of finances, reach, and worldwide earnings potential. The shift happened slowly but steadily: while 'pan-India cinema' became the most in-demand commodity, the businesses that seemed to be generating them all emerged from Southern India.
This dynamic was not restricted to
movie office receipts; south
cinema industry became the new flag-bearers in terms of creativity, storytelling, and a new cinematic vocabulary, and streamers delivered them all direct to our hand-held displays. Take, for example, Minnal Murali, The Great
indian Kitchen, or Malik as they delivered
success through OTT medium itself.
However,
pushpa has now crossed boundaries and it is definitely bigger than Baahubali as we can see several Football players,
cricket players,
international celebrities doing the famous 'Sri Valli' step or
pushpa swag on their
instagram reels and this clearly shows how much fan base
tollywood has right now and
pushpa has just expanded what Baahubali started and the terriroties are just easily conquered.
