After learning that the dispute between Lyca and director shankar will be settled through mediation, the chennai High court closed the case. The work came to a halt with the release of indian 2, directed by shankar and starring Kamal. Lyca had filed a lawsuit under the circumstances, requesting that shankar be barred from directing additional films until indian 2 was completed. The case against Lyca was rejected by the judge who heard the case.
The appeal submitted on Lyca's behalf was heard yesterday (October 28) in a session presided over by Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice PD Adikesavan. Lyca was advised at the time that it would participate in the arbitration hearings of former supreme court Judge R. Panumathi, who had been appointed to handle the dispute on the company's behalf, and shankar was guaranteed that he would not refuse to make another picture.
Shankar's camp subsequently demanded that he be permitted to complete the films he had already agreed to. The justices ordered Lyca to close the lawsuit against director shankar after listening to both parties' arguments. Recently, shankar data-faced a huge shock as his own son-in-law got arrested for harassing a minor girl and he is now behind the bars as he is arrested under the POCSO act and he won't even get a bail.
