How to eliminate caste system? Probs for Kamal Haasan
Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan has been an active user of Twitter and often posts fierce and powerful tweets against the Tamilnadu government. Recently he had been a part of an interactive session with fans on Twitter in the hashtag #AskKamalHaasan.
While various questions were asked in the session, one of the questions was regarding caste, where a person had asked which Nool (The Tamil word for book) he hated most , and Kamal had replied that he had hated Poonool (sacred thread worn by Brahmins) most, reiterating the fact that he is not caste biased, and in another question on how to eliminate caste system, in schools/ educational institutions, he had even mentioned that he had not mentioned the caste or religion of his children in their school/ college admission forms and that way one can start abolishing caste.
However, trouble started for Kamal Haasan as an old video of Shruti Haasan has resurfaced, where she's interviewed by Niranjan Iyengar. The actress, in the 2014 video says that, he's an Iyengar and she's also an Iyengar (Vaishnavite sect) as well, and they're creative and that none will marry them.
Even in a 2013 interview, she has said in an interview that Kamal Haasan is an Iyengar and her mother Sarika is a Rajput. With such caste-based and insensitive remarks of Shruti Haasan, Kamal's reputation is at stake, as he has now become a point of trolls, memes, and abuses. Thanks to Shruti Haasan's unexpected let out of words referring to her caste, Kamal Haasan who had been projecting himself as an anti-caste crusader has now got his image tarnished by his very own daughter.
