Apple company has reduced the prices of iPhones by 3-4 percent. This discount is available on all types of iPhones. Therefore, customers will get a discount of Rs.1500 to Rs.6000 on each phone. iphone Pro and iphone Pro Max model buyers will get more discounts. According to the company's announcement, the prices of iphone models 13, 14 and 15 have been reduced by Rs.300, while the price of iphone SE has been reduced by Rs.2,300.
This is the first time that apple has reduced the prices of its Pro models. Usually, the company discontinues the Pro models after the new generation Pro models are launched in the market. Only the inventory of older Pro models will be cleared by dealers and resellers through selective discounts due to which the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of Pro models has not been reduced so far.
Apple reduced the prices of Pro models after the Union Budget 2024 announced by Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 23 reduced basic customs duty on mobile phones from 20% to 15%. Along with mobile phones, customs duty on mobile phone chargers, andprinted circuit board assembly for mobile phone chargers has also been reduced.
Currently, 18% GST and 22% customs duty are applicable on smartphones sold and imported in India. A surcharge of 10% of the basic customs duty will remain. After the budget reduction, the total customs duty is 16.5% (15% basic, 1.5% surcharge). In the case of phones made in india, there is only 18% GST.
As for apple, currently, 99% of mobile phones sold in india are manufactured locally, while only select high-end models are imported. Overall it is a good decision to reduce the prices. Due to this, the other brand companies will also have a chance to reduce their prices. This will benefit all types of users.
