Vinayaka Chaturthi: Stock market holiday on august 31..!?
According to the information on the NSE website, it has been informed that the entire trading day will be closed on Vinayaka Chaturthi and no trading will be conducted in the national stock market. Similarly, on august 31, 2022, there will be no trading in the equity section, equity derivative section, and SLP section of the BSE market. However, trading in the commodity derivatives segment will be suspended in the morning session (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and will resume in the evening session (5:00 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm). Notably, during this month, the stock market was closed on august 9 and august 15 on the occasion of Muharram and Independence Day respectively.
After the august 31 holiday, the market will be closed on october 5 (Dussehra), october 24 (Diwali/Lakshmi Puja), and october 26 (Diwali Balipratipada).
The last trading holiday of 2022 will be november 8, which marks Guru Nanak Jayanti, when the market will be closed.
The Sensex hit its 2nd biggest high of 2022 on august 30 (Tuesday) as the market data-faced strong selling due to the US Federal Reserve's dovish stance. The Sensex closed up 1,564 points, or 2.70 percent, at 59,537, while the Nifty gained 446 points, or 2.58 percent, at 17,759.
