Shocking
electricity bill...!? How much increase for whom?
While the opposition
party leaders were saying that the
electricity tariff will increase soon in
tamil Nadu, now the announcement about the
electricity tariff hike has actually made
people unhappy. Despite the explanation given by the
electricity minister of
tamil Nadu
government, Senthil
balaji, the
people are expressing shock. In this situation, how high is the
electricity bill in
tamil Nadu? Now let's see in detail how much
electricity we have to pay in addition to how many units are used.
electricity minister Senthil
balaji has announced that the
electricity tariff has been increased so that
people in
tamil Nadu are not affected. According to this, up to 100 units of free
electricity provided to houses and huts will continue as usual and also 750 units of
electricity for power looms.
minister Senthil
balaji has announced that the program will continue.
Electricity charges have been increased by Rs 27.50 for those consuming 100 to 200 units and Rs 72 for those consuming 201 to 300 units, Rs.147.50 for those consuming
electricity from 301 to 400 units, and Rs.297.50 for those consuming from 401 to 500 units,
minister Senthil
balaji said. For example, if a person using 201 to 300 units of
electricity has paid 150 rupees so far, he will have to pay an additional 72.50 rupees and 222.50 rupees.
While the
electricity Board has given the reason for the increase in
electricity tariff, the
electricity Board has stated that in the last 10 years, the debt has increased by tens of crores of rupees, and two-thirds of the coal has to be purchased from the private sector. The
minister of
electricity has explained that the
central government has been pressurizing the State
government to increase the
electricity tariff and that the
electricity tariff has to be increased after 8 years.
However, even after this increase, the
electricity Department has explained that only
tamil Nadu has the lowest
electricity rates in India. In particular, in
tamil Nadu, up to 500 units of
electricity users will pay Rs 1,725, while in Karnataka, users of 500 units will pay Rs 3930, in Kerala, they will pay Rs 2765, in
andhra pradesh they will pay Rs 2572, in West
bengal they will pay Rs 3614 and in Maharashtra, they will pay Rs 4448. It has been explained that they will pay Rs.2772 and in
gujarat state, they will pay Rs.2785.
It also explained that the cost of power generation and distribution corporation employees has increased by 161.86 percent and the cost of pensioners has increased by 108.47 percent. Similarly, it has been reported that the interest on the loan taken in the
electricity sector in the last regime has increased by 212.85 percent, and overall the cost of the
electricity distribution corporation has increased by 175.58 percent in the last 10 years and this is the reason for the increase in
electricity tariff.
Also, it has been said that 92.27 lakh consumers who use up to 100 units of
electricity will not be affected by this increase in
electricity tariff. 63.35 lakh consumers using up to 200 units will be charged only Rs 27.50 per month, similarly 36.25 lakh consumers using up to 300 units will be charged only Rs 72.50 per month and 29.381 lakh consumers using up to 500 units will be charged only Rs 107 to 120 per month. The
