The end card for the 2,000 rupee note is expected to be issued soon. The 500 rupee and 2000 rupee notes came into circulation after prime minister Modi announced the 500 rupees and 1000 rupee denominations in 2016. The reason for the decline in circulation is that the bank OF INDIA' target='_blank' title='reserve bank of india-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">reserve bank of india has not printed and issued 2000 rupee notes for the last 4 years. But at the same time, the circulation of 500 rupee notes has increased, the RBI said.
The circulation of 500 rupee notes has increased from 386,790 lakh in 2021 to 455,468 lakh in the financial year ended march 2022, the Reserve bank said in its annual report.
During the last financial year, the number of new 500 rupee notes issued was 128,003 and the number of 500 rupee notes issued was 455,468 as of march 2022, the bank OF INDIA' target='_blank' title='reserve bank of india-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">reserve bank of india said.

Counterfeit 500 rupee notes accounted for 101.9 percent and counterfeit 2000 rupee notes for 54.6 percent. The lowest 10 rupees counterfeit note was only 16.4 percent, the report said.
