The rising price of tomatoes has come as a shock to housewives. The coimbatore market sells tomatoes daily from Kundupalli in Karnataka, Palamaner, and punganur in Andhra Pradesh. Tomatoes are sold in only 45 trucks today. Tomatoes, which were sold at Rs 10 a kg at retail outlets earlier this month, are now 5 times more expensive at Rs 50 a kg.
It is noteworthy that in the last 2 days, a kilo of tomatoes was sold at Rs. 29 in wholesale shops and Rs. 35 per kg in retail outlets. Tomato prices continue to rise as supply declines. Today, wholesalers sell the first variety of tomatoes for Rs. 40 per kg. The rising price of tomatoes has come as a shock to housewives.
Already Many essential things like Gas price, Fuel hike, sunflower oil price, etc are already high. Many Middle-class people are suffering a lot due to this. Already sri lanka Financial crisis has brought a lot of panic among the people of India.
This corona lockdown and russia Ukraine war have made the situation more worst. This Tomato price hike has been a sudden burden to all middle-class people.
