According to a new UCLA poll titled "2023 Teens & Screens," a lot of young people and teens are sick of witnessing too much romance and sex in tv series and motion pictures. Rather, they would like a greater emphasis on friendships and non-romantic partnerships. About half of respondents feel that romance is overused (44.3%), and nearly half think that sex isn't required for the plot (47.5%). 39% of respondents want to see characters that aren't interested in romantic relationships, while the majority (51.5%) want to see more content on friendships.

According to the survey, young people today are lonely and want to see more authentic interactions in the media that they consume. They choose to remain unmarried, and they are having fewer sex than their parents did when they were their age. Young people enjoy binge-viewing television series, which involves watching many episodes back-to-back, and they favour original programming over franchises and remakes. They now prefer to witness lives on tv that are more similar to their own than the ones they once desired to see.

In general, people appreciate authenticity in media, finding great realness and relatability in material created by producers like Mr. Beast and on platforms like TikTok. Similar circumstances might eventually emerge in India, where several online shows have explicit and suggestive content with little to no logic. indian young are also becoming less interested in watching sexual content in every web series, unless such sequences include well-known celebrities.
