75 convicts are involved in the initial phase of this agricultural task. For each day's job, they are paid up to Rs. 200. The produce of the grown plantation crops will also be sold in the puducherry market. The move, according to prison officials, is aimed at rehabilitating offenders and assisting them in earning a living through self-employment once they have served their sentences.

This evening marked the beginning of the inmates' integrated agricultural work. The event was presided over by Inspector General of Prisons Ravideep Singh Sagar. The meeting was welcomed by Prison Superintendent Asokan and Deputy Superintendent Bhaskar. The special visitors were government Korada Akadi Arumugam and Kalyanasundaram MLA, who spoke in praise of the inmates' start of integrated farm farming.

We are in prison without being released at the end of our sentence, according to the inmates. For the past 15 days, we've been practising natural farming. A comfortable slumber awaits you far from the farm. The inmates are released in tamil Nadu and the North at the end of their sentence. We, too, must be set free. Agriculture has transformed us to desire to live off the land for the rest of our lives. They pointed out that earnings of up to Rs 200 are more valuable.
