In karnataka, the debate over the hijab vs. kashaya scarf is heating up. On the other hand, the state government has mandated that college students wear uniforms.

Some colleges in karnataka banned Muslim girls from wearing the hijab in class last month. Following that, two petitions were filed in the high court on the subject. The petitioners claim that they were unable to stop wearing the hijab.

What are the government orders?

The karnataka state government issued the instructions about the state's two policies that are uniform. college development committees decide on uniforms in public educational institutions. Private enterprises have the option of requiring an original uniform or not.

The supreme court stated in the case of Asha Ranjan v. government of Bihar, and others (2017 4 SCC397) that when it comes to rights disputes, the public interest should take precedence over personal interests.

When there is a disagreement between students and institutions, the public interest should take precedence.

Leave to colleges as the controversy progresses

Some colleges were closed on saturday as a result of the controversy. Some private colleges have announced their holidays ahead of time. Some businesses have stated that they have decided to keep the colleges closed until Tuesday.

This is a delicate subject. Four colleges in our taluka have been closed as a result of this. Hijab or kashaya scarves are not permitted in colleges, according to the home minister (Araga Gyanendra) and the minister of Secondary education (Nagesh BC).

Hijab case heard in High Court

The hijab case will be heard in the karnataka high court on Tuesday. Six students of the government-run PU Women's college in Udupi have filed a petition claiming that wearing a hijab is a constitutional right.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Siddaramaiah and Janata Dal (Secular) president HD Kumaraswamy are fighting over the hijab issue.

Siddaramaiah stated that by prohibiting students from wearing the hijab, the government was advocating for their right to an education.

It is preferable to continue as before. The same procedure should be followed in colleges where the hijab was previously permitted to be worn. The same procedure should be followed in colleges where smoking is prohibited.
