Mother's Day: The story of Sindhutai!!!

A mother bears every problem for their children but does not allow them to bear any pain. The orphanage of children can be called the biggest problem in this world. In such a situation, some people also become parents to orphan children. Sindhutai Sapkal, popularly known as mother teresa of India, was one such personality. On this Mother's Day, let's know about Sindhutai, and how she adopted and raised 1400 children...

Biography of Sindhutai

Sindhutai Sapkal, a resident of the wardha district of Maharashtra, belonged to a shepherd family. Her family was so poor that she could not even get proper food. She herself used to go buffalo grazing. Due to the financial condition of the house, she had to leave her studies after class four.

Married at a young age

At the age of nine or ten, she was married off to a 35-year-old man. She also became pregnant at a very young age. She says that her in-laws had thrown her out of the house for raising her voice against injustice. The family members also refused to keep them. Sindhutai took stumbling blocks and gave birth to her baby girl alone.

First pregnancy, then the appetite of the newborn. These circumstances made Sindhutai so helpless that she had to beg at the station to feed. When she never got any begging, she also went to the crematorium with her 10-day-old daughter and ate bread made of flour thrown over the dead bodies. Feeling like an 'orphan' herself, this mother's love for orphan children arose from here.

Begging at the railway station

In compulsion and poverty, the situation had become such that Sindhutai had left her own daughter in the trust of the temple. Later, when she found an orphaned child at the railway station, her eyes were opened. From here she started feeding the orphans. She herself did not have money, because of this Sindhutai started begging at the railway station itself and started arranging food and drink for the orphan children.

In this way, she had adopted about 1400 children. Sindhutai also became the grandmother of more than 1000 children from these children. Due to the hard work and diligence of Sindhutai, many of them became doctors, engineers, and lawyers.

Honored with hundreds of awards

Sindhutai got recognition from the country to abroad for this work. She received hundreds of awards, including the country's prestigious Padma Shri. Apart from this, she also received the 'Ahilyabai Holkar Award' of Maharashtra. She also used to use the money received in the award to build an orphanage and take care of the children. Sindhutai Sapkal died on 4 january 2022 at the age of 73. It was told that she died due to a heart attack, PM Modi also expressed grief over her death.
