According to researchers at IIT Mandi, a specific molecule called PK2 may be helpful in curing both types 1 and type 2 of diabetes.

According to the researchers of IIT Mandi, a special molecule PK2 proves to be very helpful in increasing the amount of insulin in the body. This molecule is not only helpful in increasing the amount of insulin but may be helpful in curing both types of diabetes type 1 and type 2.

What was the research of IIT Mandi

In the journal Biological Chemistry published from IIT Mandi, two professors of the institute, Dr. Prosenjit Mandal and professor Subrata Ghosh, have published a paper in which this research is mentioned. He says that diabetes is associated with the problem of low insulin, it is a biochemical process. This molecule, PK2 can prove to be very helpful.

Can remove many diabetes related problems

The researchers say they found that PK2 is very rapidly absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract. This means that it can be taken as an oral medicine instead of an injection. The research also found that PK2 was found in the liver, kidney, pancreas, etc. after two hours, but was not found in the heart and lungs in the experiment done on rats. Some of it was also found in the brain, which means that it can also cross the blood-brain barrier, which is a major problem in diabetes.
