In a major update for defence job aspirants, the
Indian air Force has
extended the age limit and reopened the application window for the
Agniveer Vayu (Air) Recruitment 01/2027 under the
Agnipath Scheme. This change gives many more young candidates a second chance to apply for air Force Agniveer entry in 2026.
Age Limit Increased — Major Relief for AspirantsEarlier, the maximum age limit for Agniveer air recruitment was up to
21 years, which meant only candidates born between
January 1, 2006 and July 1, 2009 were eligible. However, the authorities have now
raised the upper age limit to 22 years, allowing those born between
January 1, 2005 and July 1, 2009 to apply. This change is a major relief for many young candidates who missed the earlier recruitment window due to age restrictions — now they can once again pursue their dream of joining the air Force.
Application Window Re‑openedAlong with increasing the age limit, the air Force has
re‑opened online registrations for the Agniveer Vayu Intake 01/2027. Eligible candidates can now apply from
March 3, 2026 to March 10, 2026 through the official portal (
iafrecruitment.edcil.co.in/agniveervayu).This provides another opportunity for those who were unable to apply earlier or who did not qualify under the previous age criteria.
Eligibility and PostsCandidates must be
unmarried indian male or female citizens and meet the revised age criteria. Educational qualifications vary depending on whether applicants apply for the
science stream (with subjects like Physics, Mathematics and English) or other Agniveer streams, as specified in the official notification.
Selection Process OverviewSelection typically includes:
- Online written examination
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
- Adaptability tests & medical examination
Successful candidates will be enrolled for four years under the Agnipath scheme, with opportunities for future retention and benefits after service completion.
Why This MattersThe decision to increase the age limit and reopen applications has been welcomed by many aspiring candidates — especially those who narrowly missed the earlier age cutoff. It gives them a renewed chance to compete and serve in the indian air Force.
