Western countries are already displeased that india is importing more crude oil from Russia. A few days ago, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of ukraine expressed displeasure that india was not buying Russian oil, but was buying Ukrainian blood. While india is importing from russia, russia expects to import various products from India. Having already approached indian exporters for several retail products, it now plans to increase exports to more products. In particular, it is expected to import medical devices, medicines, chemicals, industrial equipment, garments, furniture, and jewelry to Russia.
While india and russia are already discussing payment mechanisms, there are also reports that they are in further discussions. If this is rectified, trade between the two countries is expected to expand further.
According to Russia's latest report, there are a total of 71 requests. Most of these demands are import oriented. It also has some potential export opportunities.
This list includes machinery, paper, textiles, motor spare parts, medical products, leather, etc.India's imports from russia increased by 369.29% to $9.26 billion from April-June 2022. However, exports declined by 37.82% to $435.62 million. Crude oil imports have increased significantly. It is also notable that it has increased amid the ban on Western countries.
Russia is selling oil at discounted prices to increase its exports. At this stage, India's imports are expected to have imported fuel worth around $7.9 billion. This is 800% more than last year. Imports have increased while exports are expected to increase soon. All in all, this expectation from russia is seen as a good opportunity for indian exporters.
