But the fact that everything including popcorn is expensive in that theater is a matter of burden to the common people. From social media websites to tv discussions, there has been a discussion about popcorn snacks sold at high prices in theaters.
Ajay Bijli, Managing director of India's largest theater company, PVR, has given an explanation as to why the price of popcorn is so high. PVR Chairman and Managing director ajay Bijli say that he is committed to providing an enhanced multiplex experience to the people of india at every price point.
Cinema culture in india is huge but still remains under-screened. ajay Bijli also says that there is immense potential for business in this sector. And the F&B business i.e. food and beverage business is now Rs.1,500 crore.
Single screen theaters in india are still in the process of becoming multiplexes. ajay Bijli explains that the costs are high to raise funds as it costs too much to run multiplexes. Usually, a multiplex squeezes multiple screens in a small space, and the cost of installing the necessary infrastructure to run them and rent for leased space in malls, quality improvement, etc.
ajay Bijli said that it is not wrong for people to complain about the high cost of food in PVR cinema theaters. And because people like our service and its quality, we get a lot of income in the F&B business, explains ajay Bijli.
