Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26 january in the country with great magnificence. We are celebrating 73rd Republic Day by this year, Parades and tableaux on Rajpath fascinate everyone. In fact, on this day in the year 1950, the Constitution of india was implemented by removing the government of india Act (Act) (1935). You will be surprised to know that Republic Day, which is celebrated on 26 january, was celebrated as 'Independence Day' before independence.


26 January: Although india got independence on 15 august 1947, on 26 january 1950, india became a full republic. The whole of india celebrates this day as Republic Day. The constitution was fully prepared on 26 november 1949 but after waiting for two months it was implemented on 26 january 1950. On 26 january 1950, the constitution was implemented with a democratic government system. 

Republic Day was celebrated for the first time on 26 january 1950, on this day Dr. Rajendra Prasad(the first President of India) had hoisted the flag with a 21-gun salute and declared india a full republic. Dr. rajendra prasad announced to celebrate Republic Day, india became free from the slavery of the british on 15 august 1947. The constitution of the country was prepared in 2 years, 11 months, and 17 days.
