Salem district Yercaud is a popular tourist destination for the New Year celebrations every year. Tourists arriving before the New Year will stay in hotels in Yercaud and celebrate the New Year at 12 pm noon. But there was no New Year celebration in Yercaud last year as the government banned tourists from coming to Yercaud due to the high incidence of corona infection. So the New Year celebration has been banned as the Omicron infection is on the rise again in anticipation that this year’s New Year celebration will be much better. salem district Deputy Superintendent of police summoned hotel owners and managers in Yercaud last evening and ordered them not to hold New Year celebrations at any hotels in Yercaud. He said that if arrangements were made for the celebration, it should be completed peacefully by 11 pm and the hotel management should ensure that tourists do not wander outside after 11 pm. He also said that in the coming days, if vehicles are parked on the roadside and elsewhere except for parking, those vehicles will be impounded and action will be taken against the owners of the vehicle.

Salem district Deputy Superintendent of police told reporters that the tamil Nadu government has banned New Year celebrations across the country due to the rising incidence of corona and Omicron infections in tamil Nadu. Infections are also more likely to occur as more and more tourists come for the New Year celebrations. Therefore, New Year celebrations should not be held in hotels in Yercaud, and tourists coming to Yercaud are prohibited from going outside after 11 pm and cutting cakes in public places to celebrate the New Year.
