China is putting increasing pressure on taiwan to achieve more, he said in his National Day speech on Sunday. The recent escalation in Chinese military operations in taiwan has sparked international concern. china still considers taiwan to be a part of its territory. However, the majority of Taiwanese disagree. They feel themselves to be citizens of a sovereign nation, whether or not it is legally recognised.

What is causing the current tense situation?

Taiwan will be afforded significant autonomy if it agrees to join the Internet with China. This approach was previously used in Hong Kong. This was interpreted as a ploy to entice the Taiwanese to return to the mainland. taiwan, on the other hand, declined the offer.

Chen Shui-pian was elected President of taiwan in 2000.

After Chen died in 2008, Mao Zedong sought to improve relations with china through economic agreements. Tsai Ing-wen, Taiwan's current president, was elected eight years later, in 2016. His Democratic Progressive party is actively advocating for China's separation. When donald trump was elected president of the united states in 2016, Tsai spoke with him on the phone.

India does not recognize taiwan as a sovereign state. However, maintains a cultural relationship. Bilateral relations have improved since the 1990s. When Sai was elected President of taiwan last May, two bjp MPs, Meenakshi Laki and rahul Kaswan attended his inauguration via video. In their congratulatory message, they said that the two countries are united through democracy, freedom and human rights.
