The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has changed the requirements for acquiring a driver's licence, removing several impediments to the procedure. While many individuals have to wait a long time for a driving test appointment, others are put off by the inconvenient procedure of visiting a Regional Transport office (RTO).
However, because of recent regulation changes and the digitization of the procedure, obtaining a driver's licence is now a reasonably painless process.
According to the new rules, a person who wants to get a driver's licence can now do so without having to physically apply. Furthermore, without taking a driving test at any RTO, a permanent licence can now be obtained.

Online applications for new diving licences are now available at sarathi.parivahan.gov.in, where you can select your state and be directed to an online application portal.
If you want to apply for a permanent licence, you will need to fill out Form 4, which can be downloaded from the website. In addition, the individual must have a learners' permit for the vehicle class to which the permanent permit will be applied. You'll also need to pay the fee for the licence you're applying for, which can be found on the official website.
