Bengaluru IT Company offices to remain close?

The karnataka government has proposed that the Work From home (WFH) term be extended till december of next year. The IT firms based in Bengaluru's IT centre will not be able to open offices anytime soon, and the obvious explanation, the COVID-19 epidemic, is not the cause for this. This comes as construction on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) of Bengaluru's Metro Construction project gets underway. Until december, all IT businesses operating in the ORR region will be permitted to work from home.

On august 21, E v Ramana Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Electronics, IT, BT & Science and Technology, issued advice to the National Association of software and service Companies (NASSCOM) to this effect. The government also advised IT firms to encourage their needed employees to utilise public transportation or work vehicles rather than using their own cars.

In the next few days, the Bengaluru Metro rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) would begin construction on the Outer Ring Road from Central Silk Board to KR Puram. The metro project is expected to take at least two years to complete. Around 800 firms along the stretch employ up to 1.5 lakh IT workers. Traffic congestion will become increasingly prevalent if IT businesses begin work from their various locations.
