80% divorce cases dropped after this! : Kerala Governor.

Kerala governor Arif Mohammad Khan stated on monday that since the Muslim women (Protection Of Rights On Marriage) Act was implemented, the number of divorces in the Muslim community has decreased by 80%.

"The government has put an end to the obnoxious practice of triple talaq," Khan said at a book launch event for 'Accelerating India: Seven Years of Modi Government' at the Upa-Rashtrapati Nivas in the national capital. "I saw triple talaq crimes with one of my pals and attempted but failed to assist," he added.
"The government must protect people who are oppressed," he said. "In the case of triple talaq, the government has made history, since the divorce rate has dropped by 80% as a result of this law."

The Ministry of Minority Affairs had already announced that august 1 will be commemorated across the nation as "Muslim women Rights Day" to commemorate the passage of the law prohibiting triple talaq.
"The government enacted the law against triple talaq on august 1, 2019, which has made the social malpractice of triple talaq a criminal offence," said minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar abbas Naqvi. The Muslim women (Protection of Rights on Marriage), Act, 2019, criminalises instant "triple talaq" among Muslims and carries a three-year prison sentence for the husband. After the nda government was re-elected to power in 2019, the Act was the first bill introduced in Parliament.
