Supreme Court to hear AP's Petition alleging water share denial
On Monday, the supreme court will hear a case brought by the state of andhra pradesh against telangana claiming that the latter is refusing to share a reasonable share of water for drinking and agriculture. According to the petition, Telengana severely reduced the water amount in the srisailam dam reservoir as a result of electricity generalisation. It went on to say that it had asked the state to stop doing so, but that it had been ignored.
The Centre has directed the krishna and godavari river Management Boards (KRMB and GRMB) to overlook all the irrigation projects, putting an end to the ongoing row between the states. The two telugu states, which have been involved in an unending dispute, were issued a notification from the Centre on Monday.
On october 14, the Centre's gazetted notification will take effect, and states will be required to "fully transfer" the administration, management, maintenance, and regulation of their respective projects or components. According to the announcement, 36 projects in andhra pradesh and telangana have been given to the krishna river Management Board, while 71 projects in andhra pradesh and telangana have been assigned to the godavari river Management Board.

The states will also have to give over the operation of hydel power plants, a portion of the canal network, and transmission lines, according to the announcement. It stated that no one from either state may be nominated to the board as Chairman, member-secretaries, members, or chief engineers.
