App for purchase sale of organic products by Rajasthan
The raj Kisan Organic smartphone application, created by the agricultural department for coordination and negotiation between farmers and buyers, may now be used to buy and sell organic products throughout Rajasthan.
According to rajasthan agriculture minister Lalchand Kataria, as demand for organic goods grows, more farmers are transitioning to organic farming, with more than 20,000 becoming members of the rajasthan State Organic Certification Organization's 90 organic producer organisations. However, these farmers found it difficult to locate an organised market to sell their goods, an issue that the new raj Kisan Organic app aims to remedy by connecting organic farmers with organic customers.
Individual farmers or farmer organisations can register and sell their products directly to registered buyers by installing this app from the google Play store. So far, 160 farmers and 29 customers have signed up for the programme.
Farmers must also enter the details of the certificate issued by the relevant authority verifying their credentials in the mobile app before they can upload the details of organic cultivable land, crop name, salable yield, price of produce, and other information that allows interested buyers to contact the farmers, according to Dr Omprakash, Commissioner, Agriculture Department.
