The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) provides an online site for activities related to drone activity management in India. This comes only days after prime minister Narendra Modi held a meeting of top ministers to discuss the creation of an unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or drone traffic management strategy. Following a drone strike on an indian Air Force installation in Jammu, the meeting was conducted.
The number of drone clearance documents has been decreased from 25 to 6, and the fee has been reduced to the bare minimum. According to the Ministry of Defence, there is no correlation between the data-size of the drone and the price. A unique authorization number, a certificate of conformity, maintenance, import clearance, acceptance of existing drones, operator licenses, and other clearances are no longer required.
