IS has claimed responsibility for an attack on an Afghan Shia mosque. A suicide bomber has killed at least 40 people at a Bibi Fatima mosque in Kandahar, Afghanistan, as Shia Islamists prayed on Friday.
The IS, which calls itself the Islamic State, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
A suicide bomber struck shortly afternoon in front of a Shi'ite mosque in the northern province of Kunduz, killing at least 50 people.
With the recent withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, Taliban rule took hold there. Thus the tension of what would happen when and where there persisted. Meanwhile, a mosque in Kandahar, Afghanistan, was bombed and 7 of them died. Recently, a bomb exploded at a mosque in the town of Kunduz. Of these, about 10 people were killed and more than 90 were injured in friday prayers.

One of the three is said to have detonated a bomb strapped to his body outside the mosque and the other two at the same time inside. The number of people who come to pray in the mosque is high except on Fridays during the week. Similarly today there were more Muslims.
Taliban militants have cordoned off the area and brought it under their control. They have appealed for blood donation to save the injured. A local doctor told that the injured worshipers were being taken to Mirwais Hospital.
