Microsoft Acquires 16.4-Acre Land Parcel in Pune's Hinjewadi for Rs 520 Crore
Microsoft has made a major investment in Pune, a key IT hub in india, by purchasing a 16.4-acre land parcel for Rs 519.72 crore, according to Square Yards. This acquisition reflects Microsoft's growing interest in India's commercial real estate sector, including data centers, development centers, and flexible office spaces.
The transaction, recorded in august 2024, involves microsoft Corporation (India) Private Limited acquiring 66,414.5 square meters (16.4 acres) of land in Hinjewadi from Indo Global Infotech City LLP. The deal included a stamp duty of Rs 31.18 crore and a registration fee of Rs 30,000.
This purchase follows Microsoft's recent real estate investments in India: a 25-acre plot in Pimpri-Chinchwad for Rs 328 crore in 2022, and 48 acres of land in hyderabad for Rs 267 crore earlier this year. These moves are part of Microsoft's strategy to expand its footprint in india, particularly enhancing its data center operations. The company's data center network in india already includes locations in Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai.
Microsoft currently employs over 23,000 people across major indian cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai, hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune. These employees are engaged in various functions including sales, marketing, research, development, and customer support. Additionally, microsoft launched a significant skilling initiative in early 2024, known as ADVANTA(I)GE india, aiming to provide AI and wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">digital skills training to 2 million individuals by 2025.
