Elon Musk, the CEO of tesla, arrives in China...

Less than a week after postponing his highly anticipated trip to india to meet with prime minister Narendra Modi and the founders of an indian space firm, tesla CEO Elon Musk arrived in china on sunday, citing "Tesla related" responsibilities. Musk is anticipated to talk with Chinese government officials about the launch of Tela's Full Self-Driving software and authorization to transfer data abroad, according to a report by Reuters. This comes amid a dramatic fall in the number of tesla units being produced and inquiries made by the company's inventors.

Musk has been trying to get permission to provide data that was gathered in china to help its autonomous driving technology' algorithms get trained. As mandated by Chinese officials, the business has been storing all data gathered by its Chinese fleet in shanghai since 2021. Though New delhi only recently implemented an electric vehicle policy (EV) to make room for the Texas-based automaker, tesla has its largest plant in the world in shanghai, where it produces more than a million Model 3 and Model Y vehicles annually.

In china, tesla has sold over 1.7 million vehicles since its debut a decade ago. Furthermore, china is essential to tesla since it provides the automaker's vehicles to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Musk's visit falls during the beijing auto show, which began last week and runs through May 4, according to Reuters. According to Chinese state media, Musk is scheduled to meet with Ren Hongbin, a government official who oversees the china Council for the Promotion of international Trade, which is in charge of organizing the ongoing beijing car show, on sunday afternoon.

The consultation process to release recommendations for the EV policy had begun before Musk's visit to India. Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that india is putting policies in place to make sure big corporations are drawn to india for investment, especially in light of industries voicing concerns about china, hours after Musk revealed he is delaying his trip there.
