Attention Before Filing ITR! If this work is not done then all the hard work will be in vain The last date to file ITR is 31st July. If the ITR is not verified within 120 days from the date of filing it will not be considered valid.


The last date for filing ITR is 31st July and there is no sign of its increase as of now. So now you have only 6 days left. If you are going to file Income Tax Return (ITR), keep in mind that it needs to be verified.



As per income tax laws, ITR will not be considered valid if it is not verified within 120 days from the date of filing. Any taxpayer can verify ITR in six ways. It has five modes electronically. There are six ways in which verification can be done when the ITR is not required to be audited. Generally, an audit of ITR-1, ITR-2, and ITR-4 are not required. Let us know in which ways ITR can be verified. 

1-    Aadhaar based OTP

2-    ITR can be verified using Aadhaar based One-time Password (OTP). For this, the mobile number should be linked with Aadhaar. aadhar and PAN cards should also be linked to each other. For ITR verification, go to the 'e-Verify' page of the Income Tax Department's website, select 'I want to verify using OTP on the mobile number registered with Aadhaar', and click on 'Continue'. 



A popup will open on the screen. Tick 'I Agree to Validate My Aadhaar Details' and click on 'Generate Aadhaar OTP'. 6 number OTP will come on the registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the box and submit it. If successful, your ITR will be verified. OTP will be valid only for 15 minutes.

3-    2- Send the signed ITR-V

    

-    If you are not able to get your ITR verified electronically, you can send a signed copy of your ITR-V (Acknowledgment Receipt) to the Income Tax Department. Send it by speed post or normal post. Courier will not be accepted. After receipt of ITR, the department will notify you through message and email.



3- Net-banking On the 'e-Verify' page select 'Through Net Banking' and click on 'Continue'. Now select the bank through which you want to verify the ITR and click on 'Continue'. A popup will appear on the screen with a disclaimer. After reading this click on 'Continue'. After this, you have to log in to your bank account's net banking. ,


4- From the bank account

In this, ITR has to be verified by generating Electronic Verification Code (EVC) from the bank account. Go to the 'e-Verify' page and select the 'Through bank Account' option and click on 'Continue'. EVC will be issued on the registered mobile number and email. Enter it and click on 'e-Verify'.


5- Demat Account Its process is similar to verifying ITR from a bank account. Go to the 'e-Verify' page and select the 'Through Demat Account' option and click on 'Continue'. Electronic Verification Code (EVC) will be issued on the registered mobile number and email. Enter it and click on 'e-Verify'.


6- bank ATM

EVC can also be issued through the bank's ATM card. However, this facility is available only in a limited number of banks. Visit your bank's ATM and swipe the ATM card. Enter ATM PIN and select Generate EVC for Income Tax Filing. EVC will be sent on the mobile number and email id. Make sure that the PAN number is registered with the bank. Go to the option 'e-verify return'. Select ITR. Then select 'I already have an EVC'. Click on 'e-Verify' by entering the EVC code.
