Ilker Ayci, the former chairman of Turkish airlines, has turned down an offer to become the CEO of air India. Explaining the reason for this, he said that a different color has been given to his appointment in the indian media.


Ilker Ayci said in a statement that he was offered by Tata to become the CEO of air india in early February, ever since this offer was received and it was announced, I have been continuously reading the news written on it by the indian media. I have realized that the way my appointment is being portrayed is not correct. At the same time, he also said that he is taking this decision with a heavy heart. He wishes air india and Tata Group all the best for the future.


On 14 February, the Tata Group announced that Ilkar Ayci would now be the new CEO and MD of air India. According to reports, Ayci recently appointed Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran has been informed about the rejection of this offer. In january this year, the state-run airline company air india was handed back to the Tatas after almost 69 years.

Who is Ayci?

51-year-old Ayci was born in 1971 in Istanbul, after completing his studies, he was designated as the chairman of Turkish airlines in the year 2015. He resigned from this post in january 2022. From 1994 to 1998, Ayci was a personal adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
