UP Pension Rule: Pension May Be Halted if Required Documents Are Not Submitted
- Aadhaar alone is no longer sufficient as proof of age.
- Pensioners will now have to submit additional age proof documents such as:
- A certified copy of the family register (Parivar Register) showing the date of birth, or
- A school leaving certificate or equivalent document with the birth date.
- If a pensioner fails to provide the required age verification documents, the monthly pension payments may be stopped until the correct paperwork is submitted.
- This is intended to prevent fraudulent claims and misuse of pension funds by individuals who do not meet eligibility criteria.
- Ensure accurate verification of age and eligibility
- Prevent fraudulent or erroneous pension claims
- Ensure pension funds serve only those genuinely entitled to them
✔ Submit documents to the local authority: Visit your tehsil/block office or pension disbursing agency (bank or social welfare office) with required documents.
✔ Keep copies of submissions: Always retain a copy of submitted forms and acknowledgment slips.🧠 Note on Life Certificates (for government Pensioners)Separately from this rule change, all government pensioners (central and state) must submit a yearly Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) before a fixed deadline (often November 30 each year) to ensure uninterrupted pension payments — otherwise payments may be paused until the certificate is submitted.🧾 In SummaryRule ChangeImpact on PensionersAadhaar alone no longer accepted as age proofRequired documents now include family register or school certificateFailure to submit updated age proofPension payments may be haltedLife Certificate requirement still applies annuallyPension continues only when compliance is complete Disclaimer:The views and opinions expressed in this article are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of any agency, organization, employer, or company.
