Special Unreserved Trains Announced for Maha Shivaratri Three MEMU Services to Ease Festival Rush – Here Are the Routes

G GOWTHAM
In view of the heavy passenger rush expected for Maha Shivaratri, the Southern Railway has announced the operation of three special unreserved trains to facilitate devotees travelling for the festival.

To avoid overcrowding and ensure smooth travel, special MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) services will be operated on key routes.

Why the Special Trains?

Maha Shivaratri is one of the most significant Hindu festivals dedicated to Lord Shiva. Every year, thousands of devotees travel to prominent temples across tamil Nadu and neighbouring regions to participate in night-long prayers and special rituals.

Considering the surge in passenger movement, railway authorities have introduced unreserved MEMU services to manage the crowd and provide additional connectivity.

Likely Routes and Services

The three unreserved special trains are expected to operate on busy suburban and intercity routes connecting major pilgrimage centres. These MEMU trains are particularly helpful for short-distance travellers and daily commuters heading to temple towns.

Passengers are advised that these services will operate without prior reservation, and tickets can be purchased directly at railway stations.

Advisory for Passengers

Railway officials have urged passengers to:

  • Arrive at stations early due to anticipated heavy rush
  • Follow safety guidelines and cooperate with railway staff
  • Check official railway announcements for exact timings and routes
Devotees planning to travel for maha Shivaratri are encouraged to make use of these special services to ensure a safe and convenient journey. Further details regarding train numbers and schedules will be announced by the railway authorities.
