The Harsh Reality: Americans Founded These Companies. Indians Keep Them Alive.

SIBY JEYYA

The Internet Loves Myths. But Facts? They Hit Harder.

Ben Shapiro recently praised the H-1B visa program, noting that U.S. tech relies heavily on immigrant talent. He’s right about the dependence.

But then came the usual rhetorical twist:
Indian CEOs like Sundar Pichai and satya Nadella were presented as symbols of immigrant “founders”—as if they built google or microsoft from scratch.

Let’s get this straight:
Americans founded those companies. indians now run them.

And the reason is uncomfortable for many:
Indian talent was hired because American companies couldn’t find enough qualified talent at home.

The anti-immigrant crowd hates hearing this.
But the facts are merciless.

🟥 THE FACT CHECK: AMERICANS FOUNDED google & MICROSOFT. PERIOD.

Google

  • Founded: 1998

  • Founders: larry page & Sergey Brin (American innovators)

  • Sundar Pichai joined in 2004 → rose through merit → became CEO in 2015

Pichai didn’t “steal” anything.
He earned leadership of a company founded by Americans.

Microsoft

  • Founded: 1975

  • Founders: bill gates & Paul Allen (American icons)

  • Satya Nadella joined: 1992 → became CEO in 2014

Again:
No founding mythology.
Just competence, leadership, and results.

🟧 THE REAL STORY: indian CEOS DIDN’T CREATE THESE FIRMS—THEY STABILIZED THEM

These companies were already American success stories.
But their modern global success?
Their explosive scale?
Their trillion-dollar turnarounds?

That’s where indian leadership enters the frame.

Nadella transformed Microsoft into a cloud powerhouse.
Pichai expanded Google across AI, Android, and global platforms.
They didn’t build the companies—
They took them to the next century.

This is not “job stealing.”
This is job-creating.

🟦 AMERICA’S TALENT GAP: THE PROBLEM FEW WANT TO SAY OUT LOUD

The H-1B debate misses one brutal fact:

U.S. companies aren’t hiring indian immigrants instead of Americans.
They’re hiring them because they cannot find enough Americans with the needed skills.

Shapiro said it plainly:
There aren’t enough qualified Americans to fill these roles.

That’s the part everyone conveniently skips.

🟩 THE LIST THAT TRIGGERS THE INTERNET:

A SHOCKING NUMBER OF U.S. GIANTS ARE LED BY indian CEOS

Not founders.
Not immigrants who “took” something.
But leaders are chosen because shareholders demand competence.

  • google – Sundar Pichai

  • microsoft – satya Nadella

  • Adobe – Shantanu Narayen

  • IBM – Arvind Krishna

  • Chanel – Leena Nair

  • FedEx – raj Subramaniam

  • Palo Alto Networks – Nikesh Arora

  • Honeywell – vimal Kapur

  • Visteon – Sachin Lawande

  • Starbucks – Laxman Narasimhan

  • Vertex Pharma – reshma Kewalramani

  • Micron – Sanjay Mehrotra

  • Mastercard – ajay Banga (now President of the World Bank)

  • Vimeo – anjali Sud

  • Deloitte – Punit Renjen

  • Flex – revathi Advaithi

  • Arista – Jayshree Ullal

  • Cognizant – ravi Kumar S

  • GlobalFoundries – Thomas Caulfield (former CEO was Indian: Sanjay Jha)

  • NetApp – George Kurian

  • Wayfair – Niraj Shah (co-founder)

These people weren’t chosen as diversity ornaments.
They were chosen because they delivered results American boards demanded.

🟪 THE ECONOMIC TRUTH AMERICANS DON’T WANT TO HEAR

indian CEOs do not replace American workers.
They create jobs for them.

Under indian leadership:

  • microsoft added tens of thousands of U.S. jobs

  • google expanded across multiple American states

  • FedEx scaled operations globally

  • Starbucks opened stores at record speed

  • Chipmakers like Micron expanded U.S. manufacturing

If anything, indian leadership kept Americans employed.

This is not job theft.
This is a job expansion.

🟫 THE REAL HYPOCRISY: AMERICA LOVES THE RESULTS BUT HATES THE PIPELINE

America relies on:

  • indian CEOs

  • indian engineers

  • indian doctors

  • indian IT support

  • indian researchers

  • indian supply chains

Yet the political debate pretends indians are a threat.

But the corporations?
The ones that actually need talent?

They know the truth:

Without indian skill, American tech collapses.
 Without H-1B, American innovation slows.
 Without immigrant leadership, growth stagnates.

🟧 THE FINAL VERDICT: indians DIDN’T FOUND AMERICA’S TECH GIANTS—THEY FUTURE-PROOFED THEM

It’s time to retire the myths.

Americans founded google and Microsoft.
Indians didn’t take those companies.

They were hired to grow them, repair them, scale them, and modernize them.

The real threat to American jobs isn’t immigrants—it’s the refusal to acknowledge where American companies actually get their talent from.

India isn’t taking American jobs.
India is helping America stay in the game.
