Iranian citizens to delete the WhatsApp app..!?
Ban on using WhatsApp: In a message released by Iran's state-owned television to the public, it has ordered all Iranian citizens to immediately delete the whatsapp app from their cell phones. The Iranian government has issued such an order, accusing the whatsapp app of storing and sharing the data of Iranians with Israel. Meanwhile, WhatsApp's parent company, Meta, has denied these allegations. Meta has stated in a statement that the Iranian government is making false allegations for the sole reason of blocking whatsapp when people need it most. It has also stated that since whatsapp uses end-to-end encryption, no one can access any of its users' information.
Ban on foreign apps: The Iranian government has always taken a stance against apps from foreign tech companies. In 2022, a major nationwide protest took place in Iran. At that time, the Iranian government blocked whatsapp and google Play Store. Later, these bans were lifted in 2023. However, there are various restrictions on the use of apps like whatsapp, Telegram, and instagram in Iran. Although the Iranian government has imposed restrictions on foreign communication apps, whatsapp continues to be an app that most people in the country can use. Now, the country's government has banned it. It has also been reported that access to websites related to foreign countries has been banned.
Officials banned from using smartphones: According to reports, only government-owned and operated websites in iran can currently be accessed by the country's people, and Iranian government officials and guards have been banned from using mobile phones, smartwatches, and laptops. The Iranian government has stated that it has taken such a step because israel is waging a cyber war against them.
