Split Fiction, Sydney Sweeney's video game film starring Wicked director Jon M. Chu, has apparently been unveiled after a bidding war. With Eden, Echo Valley, Americana, and The Housemaid all coming out in 2025, as well as a Christy Martin biopic, a Barbarella remake, a Masque of red Death film, and numerous more projects in the works, Sweeney is one of the most sought-after young actors. According to reports, Sweeney was cast in an adaptation of the well-known video game in late April, with Chu directing and Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick writing the story.

Amazon MGM Studios is reportedly nearing an agreement to purchase the Split Fiction film adaptation, according to Deadline.  According to reports, the deal is for more than $2 million.  Sony and several other studios were among those interested in the highly sought-after movie when the competitive bidding for it started a few weeks ago.

What This Means For The Split Fiction Movie

It's A Highly Sought-After Project

Amazon MGM Studios' victory in a tough bidding war for the Split Fiction film adaptation demonstrates how in-demand the project is as a unique combination of well-known intellectual property, established creatives, and star power.  Sydney Sweeney, one of Hollywood's hottest emerging stars at the moment, appears in Split Fiction, which is based on a popular video game.  In addition, Deadpool & Wolverine's screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick just produced a huge hit with Wicked, as did director Jon M. Chu.

Split Fiction, which was developed by Hazelight Studios using Unreal Engine, centers on two authors, Mio Hudson and Zoe Foster, who become trapped in a simulation that is operated by Rader Publishing, a software company that employs artificial intelligence to elicit original ideas from writers.  They must band together and travel through surreal settings influenced by their favorite sci-fi and fantasy genres in order to escape.  One of the writers will be portrayed by Sydney Sweeney, albeit it is unknown what role she will play.
