THUNDERBOLTS* - Taskmaster's Role In The Movie Has Been Revealed
Taskmaster's portrayal by Black Widow was comic-accurate in that he was a formidable opponent and was able to imitate the superheroes of the MCU. But in the end, the film would show that he was actually a female, with Antonia Dreykov replacing Tony Masters. It had been hoped that Taskmaster, who had a far better costume in Thunderbolts*, would find some atonement in the collaborative project.
Despite her appearances in the film's trailers, tv commercials, and posters, it is now evident that she will play a small part. There is a lot of conjecture: does "Bob" assassinate Taskmaster right away, or is she actually employed by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in secret?

Congress is reportedly trying to remove Val from office because to corruption connected to the O.X.E. business. She sends U.S. Agent, Taskmaster, Yelena Belova, and Ghost to a secluded base where she hopes they will all kill each other out in order to tie up loose ends from what appears to be the CIA Director's own off-the-books research.
Later, when the crew meets "Bob," red Guardian and Bucky both arrive at the base after red Guardian finds out on its own that Yelena is in peril and that Bucky is a Congressman trying to assist in taking down Val.
However, returning to Taskmaster, it is reported that she is murdered nearly instantly after Ghost shoots her in the head. Despite her strong bond with her fellow red Room agent, Yelena seems to be in a bad frame of mind at this point in the narrative, which leads her to believe that bad things happen to bad people and that she and the other Thunderbolts will ultimately follow.
