IPL 2025: dhoni returns as CSK captain for IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s injury


MS Dhoni is set to captain chennai Super Kings in the indian Premier League 2025 season after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to an injury.

MS Dhoni is expected to lead chennai Super Kings (CSK) against the delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, potentially stepping in as captain if Ruturaj Gaikwad is ruled out due to an injury sustained in a recent match. 

MS dhoni will take over the captaincy duties for chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the remainder of the ongoing indian Premier League (IPL) after regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to an elbow fracture. The development was confirmed by CSK coach stephen Fleming during the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

"As far as replacements go we have few options in the squad. We haven’t zeroed in on anyone. (MS) dhoni was ready to take over. He understood where it was coming from,” the former new zealand captain said. However, it is yet to be known when Gaikwad sustained the blow.

CSK’s IPL triumphs under dhoni came in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023.


In 2022, ravindra jadeja was appointed as a captain but dhoni was forced to re-take the reins mid-season due to a string of poor performances.

Ahead of the 2024 season, Dhoni had passed on the captaincy baton to Gaikwad.
