Inzamam-ul-Haq, the former captain of pakistan, has once again made a contentious comment in which he requests that cricket boards refrain from sending their players to the indian Premier League (IPL). cricket players have begun preparing for the 2025 indian Premier League shortly after the completion of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which was hosted by pakistan and won by India. Since the first season of the IPL in 2008, pakistan has not participated.

According to Inzamam, other boards from across the world ought to adopt a similar position and cease releasing their cricket players for the lucrative competition on indian territory if the bcci doesn't release their players for international T20 tournaments.
"Keep the Champions Trophy aside, you look at the IPL where all the top players from around the world take part. But indian players don't go to play in other leagues. Hence, all the boards should stop sending their players to the IPL. If you don't release your players for any league, then shouldn't other boards take a stance?" Inzamam said on a local news channel in Pakistan.
While India's women cricketers have played in overseas leagues like BBL, WCPL, the Hundred and others.  The bcci, however, has prohibited men's cricket players from taking part in these international T20 leagues.  Only after retiring from indian cricket are indian men's cricket players permitted to participate in franchise competitions.

After declaring his retirement last year, dinesh karthik participated in the SA20 with the Paarl Royals.  Only after retiring from indian cricket have players like yuvraj singh and Irfan Pathan participated in leagues like the Lanka Premier League and GT20 Canada.
Notably, the IPL 2025, which is scheduled to start on march 22, will clash directly with the pakistan Super League (PSL) as it will be played from april 11 to May 18.
