The son of tamil Nadu chief minister MK stalin, Udhayanidhi, has defended his remarks, saying that he was not attacking any religion but rather societal inequities and caste-based prejudice.
"He said it has to be eradicated... please see if the chief minister of a different state had said something similar about a different religion, such as eradicating islam," he said in his submission. Declaring, "As the apex court, we can't react to comments," the Chief Justice of india (CJI) made it plain that the court would not become involved in the case's merits. In addition to extending the already granted temporary protection, the bench later sent out a notification regarding Stalin's application. Bihar and other states where FIRs have been filed have been permitted to become parties to the lawsuit, and their response has been requested.
The interim ruling prohibiting more cases against stalin will stay in effect until the matter is scheduled for a hearing the week of april 28, 2025.
