Amul, India's leading dairy brand, has announced a reduction in milk prices by Rs 1 per liter across its key product offerings—Amul Gold, Amul Taaza, and Amul Tea Special. The revised prices are now Rs 65 per liter for Amul Gold, Rs 61 per liter for Amul Tea Special, and Rs 53 per liter for Amul Taaza. This price cut comes as a relief for consumers amid fluctuating food costs and reflects Amul's commitment to making its dairy products more affordable and accessible to households across the country. The reduction is expected to benefit millions of consumers who rely on Amul's milk for their daily nutritional needs.

The decision to lower milk prices follows a previous price hike in june 2024, when Amul had increased rates by Rs 2 per liter. The earlier price adjustment was attributed to rising input costs, including procurement prices from farmers and escalating operational expenses. However, the latest reduction suggests a potential easing of cost pressures or strategic pricing aimed at maintaining market competitiveness. By rolling back a portion of the previous hike, Amul aims to balance consumer interests with the sustainability of its vast cooperative network that supports thousands of dairy farmers across India.

Jayen Mehta, the Managing director of the gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets Amul products, announced the price revision, highlighting that this is the first price change since june 2024. Amul's pricing strategies are closely watched by both consumers and industry stakeholders, given its significant influence on the dairy sector. The recent move may also prompt other dairy brands to consider similar adjustments to remain competitive. With this price reduction, Amul reaffirms its position as a consumer-centric brand while continuing to support the livelihood of its associated farmers.
