Since its december 20th release, Marco—Unni Mukundan's most violent film in India—has garnered favorable reviews from viewers and is performing well at the box office. The censor board is currently being criticized by some for permitting so many violent, gory, and bloody sequences in Marco.

Shareef Mohammed, the film's producer, claimed that following censoring, the cruelty and violence in Marco were somewhat reduced. However, because the film was far more violent before to censoring, important parts were left in place. Many social media users have said that Haneef Adeni's Marco is not for the weak of heart, with some viewers even throwing up while viewing the film in cinemas.

Although there is greater violence in the hindi movie Kill, women and children are not included. Marco does, however, have violent sequences with women and children. The success of Marco in cinemas may encourage producers to use more graphic and violent sequences in subsequent films for shock effect alone. social media critics claim that violent films like Marco are bad for society and that viewers shouldn't enjoy them. The movie also got hit by piracy shock as an ultra HD version is available on the Internet.
